World Select team takes the US select Team to Overtime.

2026 BOYS NIKE HOOP SUMMIT The World Select Team put up a highly competitive and impressive performance at the 2026 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, ultimately falling just short in a 102–100 overtime loss to Team USA. Despite the defeat, the international squad once again proved its growing parity with American prospects, pushing the game beyond regulation and nearly securing a statement victory. The narrow margin reflected how evenly matched the teams were, with the World team showing resilience, depth, and high-level execution throughout the contest.

From a team performance standpoint, the international group showcased strong offensive balance and interior presence. They shot an efficient 47.6% from the field and outrebounded Team USA with 53 total rebounds, highlighting their physicality and size advantage. Their frontcourt rotation featuring players like Miikka Muurinen and Abdou Toure consistently generated second-chance opportunities and interior scoring. Additionally, the team displayed versatility, with multiple players capable of handling the ball and initiating offense, which helped them maintain scoring pressure across all four quarters and into overtime.

Individually, several international prospects significantly boosted their stock. Canadian guard Miles Sadler led all scorers with 29 points, adding 7 assists and demonstrating elite shot creation and confidence in high-pressure moments. Abdou Toure also stood out with 19 points and efficient shooting, while Paul Osaruyi and Lucas Morillo provided key contributions off the bench. The World team’s guard play particularly from Sadler and Ikenna Alozie was crucial in keeping the offense organized, while their wings and bigs provided scoring balance and defensive activity, combining for 18 steals and 8 blocks as a team.

Defensively, the international team brought energy and disruption, forcing turnovers and contesting shots effectively. Their length and athleticism were evident, especially in passing lanes and rim protection. However, turnovers (28 total) proved costly, as they limited the team’s ability to fully capitalize on their otherwise strong performance. Late game execution also became an issue, as Team USA managed to edge ahead in overtime with timely plays and composure in clutch moments.

In conclusion, the World Select Team’s performance at the 2026 Nike Hoop Summit reinforced the continued rise of global basketball talent. While they did not secure the win, their ability to push Team USA to the brink highlighted the narrowing gap between American and international prospects. The game served as a showcase of future NBA talent, with multiple international players demonstrating pro-level tools, versatility, and competitiveness. In many ways, the World team arguably matched or even exceeded Team USA in several statistical categories, leaving Portland with increased visibility and momentum heading into their future collegiate and professional careers.
